Rangers now fear the worst with Celtic joining the race for the EFL midfielder, who could arrive as a free agent in the summer.
Rangers concerned about Celtic transfer hijacking
Hearts shocked the rest of Scotland this season by taking pole position in the Scottish Premiership race, so it’s safe to say that both Celtic and Rangers have a job to do this summer.
Their respective transfer ambitions were already evident in the January transfer window. Martin O’Neill’s side saved their best arrival for last, bringing in experienced former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free contract after the deadline.
Meanwhile, the Rangers once again benefited from financial support from the 49ers. Gers welcomed Ryan Naderi, Tuur Rommen, Tochi Chukwani and Andreas Skov-Olsen in a busy January.
It could be a sign of things to come. Ahead of the summer season, Football FanCast exclusively revealed that Rangers are already in talks to sign Mikey Moore from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent contract.
The young winger has developed into the position since the arrival of Danny Rolle and could get the chance to become a permanent fixture at Ibrox.
Two years after leaving Rangers, the £58m star is now better than Moore and Skov Olsen
One of the former Rangers stars has blossomed since leaving Ibrox.
Roll will no doubt welcome him with open arms. The Rangers manager was full of praise for the winger, telling reporters in November: “Mikey showed his quality on the ball again. He was always available and showed a lot of good movement, which I think is great.”
As for Celtic, there is no doubt that they have an even bigger task on their hands this summer after a season with so many uncertainties. Their first priority will be finding a long-term managerial option to replace O’Neill before potentially competing with Rangers to sign the in-demand midfield star.
According to Football Insider, Rangers are currently worried that Celtic will hijack their bid to sign Cameron Asia this summer, with two Old Firm clubs vying to sign him.
Popular Asia will be a summer bargain
No wonder the Scottish giants are interested in Assia. The Huddersfield Town midfielder has also attracted interest from the Championship and is set to become a free agent this summer.
That’s when Celtic could one-over Rangers to seal a bargain deal and, in the process, acquire the attacking brilliance they’ve sorely lacked all season.

It’s a big decision for the Huddersfield attacking midfielder. With one action, he can give any of the old clubs an instant summer blow, or both if he chooses the Championship.
