Manager Arne Slott today confirmed that Liverpool’s summer marquee player Florian Wirths will miss the next Premier League game against Wolves, with the German playmaker also a big doubt for Friday’s FA Cup fifth round clash against the same opponents.

Florian Wirtz absent from Liverpool vs. Wolves match
The 22-year-old midfielder was sidelined last month after sustaining a hip injury during the pre-match warm-up against Nottingham Forest.
A speedy return was expected, but Slott admitted at Monday’s press conference at the AXA Training Center that a double-header at Molineux was too early for the player.
“Tomorrow’s game will probably be too early, and maybe the weekend game as well,” Slott told reporters.
“Hopefully he’ll be back next week. Maybe sooner, maybe a little later, but that’s the timescale.”
The Reds take on bottom-of-the-table Wolves on Tuesday night before returning to the West Midlands on Friday with a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the line.
With a big Champions League round-of-16 trip to Galatasaray looming on March 10, Slott are understandably wary of risking their most creative talent.
Wirtz has found his footing at Liverpool after a slow start
After his high-profile move from Bayer Leverkusen in June last year, Wirtz initially took some time to adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League.
However, in 2026, the German international showed rich form and became the focus of an offensive transformation in the slot.
Before his latest injury setback, Wirtz had contributed an impressive six goals in his last 10 league games.
His ability to unlock defenses has seen him score a total of six goals and eight assists in all competitions this season, proving why Liverpool fought so hard to sign his signature.
His absence will be a blow to Liverpool as they currently aim for a top-four finish, but Jeremy Frimpong’s return will give the squad much-needed depth during this congested period of competition.
