Tottenham Hotspur need to start winning games in the Premier League. Otherwise, the constant chatter about relegation will only intensify before it becomes a reality.
Spurs’ form has somehow worsened since Thomas Frank was sacked last month, and it’s pretty clear at this point that appointing Igor Tudor on an interim basis until the end of the season was a mistake.
Where do Tottenham go from here? The dream pick would be Mauricio Pochettino, but that won’t happen as the former Lilywhites manager will manage the USMNT at the World Cup later this year.
But Tottenham need a manager now or they could really drop out of the Championship.
Latest information on Spurs managerial changes
Tottenham have Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi at the top of their managerial shortlist, but neither elite manager is a realistic option until the 2025/26 season is over.
Therefore, ENIC groups may need to think outside the box. There are even rumors of Harry Redknapp making a sensational return to the N17 dugout.
Let’s be honest, appointing a retired 79-year-old to lead the club’s fight against relegation, which is the most dangerous position the club has ever been in, might not be the wisest move.
But Tudor needs to be sacked, and if not Redknapp, De Zerbi or Pochettino, then who will?
Now, according to TEAMtalk, Ferencvaros manager Robbie Keane is one of the leading candidates for the job, and he is also particularly keen on a move now.
Keane, 45, would ideally want to take up the role on a long-term permanent deal, but Spurs sporting director Johan Lange will be keen to offer him a deal until the end of the season.
Why Keane could be the best Spurs manager since Pock
One of Tottenham’s best forwards of the modern era and a “legend” according to former teammate Terry Sheringham, Keane may be young and inexperienced, but he knows the club well and has had a successful start to his coaching career in Hungary, having previously managed Maccabi Tel Aviv and held a series of assistant roles in the Championship.
It was certainly a gamble to take over, but Keane couldn’t have done any worse than Tudor, losing four of four games in the Premier League so far, and was confident in his ability to turn things around.
Additionally, Keane is tactically adaptable, playing in a flat 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 formation. In that respect, he has something in common with Pochettino. Pochettino used a three-man backline during his tenure as manager.

Pochettino is arguably Tottenham’s greatest modern manager. Ange Postecoglou won the Europa League last season, but the instability that prevailed throughout his two-year spell suggests he is no match for the man who transformed the club into one of the Premier League’s best over the years.
Keane could therefore follow a similar path, with his visionary tactical approach and understanding of the culture and style Spurs wish to introduce suggesting he could be ideal for the role.
When Pochettino arrived at Tottenham, few would have said he could drive better than, say, Harry Redknapp or Andre Villas-Boas. However, the former Southampton manager became the project manager the club needed.
After all, there’s a reason why Poch is currently so highly regarded on the board and is at the top of the list of candidates to take over the reins once his World Cup stint is over.
Keane has made a strong start to his managerial career and, although young and inexperienced, the Irish legend could be the perfect leader to emulate Pochettino and outperform all elite managers in the following years to establish sustained success.

Tottenham are set to undergo a radical shake-up this summer, regardless of their fate in the Premier League.
