TGL’s second season is coming to a close, and on Tuesday night, the four teams that made it to the TGL Playoffs will begin the semi-finals to qualify for the best-of-three finals.

The first semifinal of the night pits third-seeded Atlanta Drive against second-seeded Los Angeles Golf Club, with both teams missing one of their top stars. Justin Thomas won’t play in Atlanta after finishing in the top 10 at The Players, and Collin Morikawa will be out of LA’s lineup after that. Withdrew from The Players 1st round due to hip injury.

The second semifinal will pit the teams of league co-founders Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods against each other, but only one of those two will play. McIlroy has just recovered from a hip injury and will play in Tuesday’s semifinals, looking to lead Boston to its first title as the top seed. Woods hints at possible return Will undergo back surgery at next month’s Masterswon’t play Tuesday night, instead leaving it up to his younger teammates to pull off the upset.

Three final round headliners at TPC Sawgrass will not be participating in the TGL playoffs, as they missed out on a thrilling Sunday at The Players. Players champion Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick, whom he narrowly won on the 18th, are New York teammates, and 54-hole leader Ludwig Oberg plays at The Bay. These two teams were eliminated in the postseason, so they will play at home like any other team.

2026 TGL Playoffs Semi-Final Roster

atlanta drive

  • Patrick Cantlay
  • billy horschel
  • Chris Gotterup

The defending champions will head into the semifinals with an interesting lineup that doesn’t include Justin Thomas, who just had his best start of the year at The Players. Instead, they will rely on Cantlay, Horschel and Gotthard, who haven’t been at their best on the PGA Tour lately. Cantlay is off to a slow start heading into 2026, finishing 32nd at The Players and failing to finish in the top 10 in seven starts on tour. Gotterup is the only two-time Tour winner, but his three starts since his win at Phoenix have been lackluster, with a T56 finish at TPC Sawgrass. Horschel wasn’t on the field last week, but he had his best finish of the year at Bay Hill with a T13. He is known to raise his arm at the SoFi Center.

Los Angeles Golf Club

  • Justin Rose

LA was also significantly absent this week as Collin Morikawa withdrew from the lineup on the second hole of The Players on Thursday with a hip injury. Still, Los Angeles has been able to field a strong lineup with a pair of top-10 players in the world in Rose and Fleetwood, and Seagala is making strides this season after a difficult 2024. Rose is coming off his best run since his win at Torrey Pines, while Seagala slowed down over the weekend after a hot start, and Fleetwood held on for another top-10 finish at The Players.

It was a little strange that Tiger Woods would once again use the TGL Playoffs as his first introduction to competitive golf, but the GOAT is not on this week’s active roster. Instead, Jupiter will rely on its young trio to try to confuse Boston. Homa had a strong showing, finishing 32nd at The Players and 13th at the Cognizant Classic. Kim has yet to finish in the top 20 on the PGA Tour, but he had the shot of the year at TGL. His ace effectively sent Jupiter into the playoffs.. There’s no question that Bhatia is the best-formed player on the team, two weeks removed from the biggest win of his career at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and he backed that up with a T13 at The Players.

Boston will have its top stars in action this week, with Rory McIlroy, who withdrew from WD due to a back injury at Bay Hill, successfully completing 72 holes at The Players, and is scheduled to play in action. He will be joined by Keegan Bradley. He had a great week at TPC Sawgrass, with two great rounds on Friday and Saturday, followed by disastrous rounds on Thursday and Sunday. Boston’s veteran team will be rounded out in the semifinals by Adam Scott, who played but had a mediocre showing at The Players. Michael Thorbjornsen will not play in the semifinals after a rough final draw at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday.
