Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach has been called up to the Germany national team for the upcoming international break.
The 27-year-old midfielder has had a very good run with the English club and will be returning to the German national team four years after his last appearance.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann explained that the team needed a defensive midfielder with a different profile and therefore wanted to give him the opportunity to showcase his qualities.

Nagelsmann added that Staha is playing for a club with an underdog mentality, as Leeds are not expected to win many games in the Premier League, and added that he is looking forward to seeing how the 27-year-old performs in the German national team, where there is much more pressure to win.
Nagelsmann said (h/t Leeds Press): “We wanted a number six with a different profile. His journey was from number six to number four to number eight.”
“Stach hasn’t had the chance to prove himself with us yet. He is playing for Leeds. Unlike Leon (Goretzka) at Bayern or Robert (Andrich) at Leverkusen, Leeds are not blessed with winning many games in the Premier League. We want to see how he can contribute to us (with this underdog mentality).”
“He was very happy (with the call-up). He was elated to get the call-up and we’ll see if he can bring that elation home this week. It meant a lot to him that he was recognized. We’ll see if he can slide in and compete with some of the other players I mentioned.”
Will Stitch be able to make a mark?
His comments may not go down well with Leeds United fans. However, this is a great opportunity for Stach to prove himself with the German national team, and it will be interesting to see if he can make a good impression during the international break and earn a place in the World Cup squad.
Stach joined Leeds from Hoffenheim at the start of the season.
