The Blues are known for scouting the market for the best young players in world football, and Vuskovic certainly seems to be establishing himself in that department.
The Croatian international has yet to play a single minute for Spurs, but his defensive performances for Hamburg during his loan spell in the Bundesliga this season have been very impressive.
“It’s true that Chelsea are interested,” a source told us. “They have done their homework on him and he is high on their list to find a new centre-back.”
Luka Vuskovic’s transfer won’t be cheap
Other sources have also confirmed interest from Chelsea and reiterated that Bayern Munich are big fans of the teenager, but it is unclear whether the defender is a priority for them at this stage.
According to most of the people we spoke to, interest is strongest in Chelsea at the moment, but other teams such as Liverpool and Barcelona could also be interested.
However, one problem for interested clubs is that Tottenham are completely unwilling to part with Vuskovic, and his market value could already be in the region of €100m (about £86m).
Chelsea have shown that they are willing to invest big money in such elite young talent, so this kind of deal may not be impossible for them.
Still, the Spurs are in control, as Vuskovic still has time left on his contract until 2030.
Tottenham relaxed about Luka Vuskovic interest
Unsurprisingly, THFC officials insist they have not been approached about Vusković and have no intention of selling him.
This would send a clear message, but the nature of the transfer market means that clubs often do not enter into direct negotiations until much later in the process with the other party.
It is yet to be confirmed whether Chelsea have spoken to anyone around Vuskovic, but it seems likely they will do so in the near future.
