One of the world’s biggest amateur events begins next week in Augusta, Georgia.
The 7th Augusta National Women’s Amateur will tee off on Wednesday, April 1st, and a champion will be crowned on Saturday, April 4th at Augusta National Golf Club. The event marks the unofficial start of Masters Week, with the world’s best female amateurs competing for trophies on the storied grounds, leading to the Drive, Chip and Putt finals and, ultimately, the 90th Masters.

Here’s what you need to know about the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
Augusta National Women’s Amateur Format
72 participants will compete in 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will be made after 36 holes and the top 30 players will advance to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. If there is a tie after 54 holes, a sudden death playoff will determine the winner. The first 36 holes will be contested at Champions Retreat Golf Club near Evans, Georgia. Each player will complete a practice round on Friday, April 3rd at Augusta National Golf Club.

What ANWA winners receive
The Augusta National Women’s Amateur winner will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women’s Amateurs, U.S. Women’s Open, AIG Women’s Open, Chevron Championship, Evian Championship, and USGA, R&A, and PGA of America Amateur Championships with one year of eligibility.

Top 30 players from the United States based on the previous year’s (2025) final Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings (no other qualifications)
The top 30 players listed in the final Women’s World Amateur Ranking of the previous year (2025) after having achieved qualifications 1-8 above, without any other qualifications.
Athletes receive special invitations from the Augusta U.S. Women’s Amateur Committee

The ticket was won in a lottery. Nothing is available at the gate.

The field is comprised of 48 of the top 50 players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and is probably the strongest women’s amateur field in history.
