Tottenham Hotspur have been looking for a new manager following the departure of Igor Tudor, and have now made an offer.
Tudor leaves Spurs after just one win
Tudor’s departure was confirmed on Sunday, but the Croatian had a dismal record of one win, one draw and five defeats in his seven games as Spurs manager, with a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest being the final straw.
However, ENIC may object to the appointment of a new manager, given that Tottenham sit just one point above the Premier League relegation zone and a move to Tottenham is not the most attractive proposition at the moment.
With their top-flight status in jeopardy, it has been suggested that the Lilywhites could bring in a manager with experience fighting relegation, with former Everton manager Sean Dyche being named as a likely target.
But another way to convince top managers to join right away is to offer a package that’s too good to refuse. And now the latest information regarding the pursuit of former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has been released.
Tottenham press ahead with appointment of ‘unique’ manager
According to the latest updates from Sky Sports, Tottenham have offered De Zerbi a five-year contract, and the Telegraph reports that he is expected to make a decision later today.
The Italian, who prefers to use a 4-2-3-1 system, has been in talks in recent days about an immediate move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with ENIC stepping up their pursuit.
This may have come as a bit of a surprise, given that the former Marseille manager left the French team by mutual consent in February and has been doing a solid job in the short time since he was out of the job.

De Zerbi led Marseille to second place in Ligue 1 in his first year in charge and was fourth when he left last month, while also doing a solid job in England, with Brighton finishing sixth in 2022-23.
Josep Guardiola is also a big fan of his former rivals, praising the Seagulls’ style of play as “unique” and two years ago describing the Seagulls as “one of the most respected coaches and managers in world football”.
Breaking news: Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s ‘dream’ managerial target minutes after Tudor’s sacking
The Lilywhites are already plotting.
As such, the experienced manager certainly has the pedigree to replace Tudor in the long term, and it is absolutely vital that Tottenham get their next appointment right, with their place in the Premier League in serious doubt.
