Spring is a season of change. Animals emerge from hibernation, plants bloom with new life, and in golf, Augusta National Golf Club brings its latest enhancements to the public’s attention. This part of the calendar will be the place to be when the 2026 Masters begins, with golf courses being objects of awe and always bringing cheers of “ahhs” and “aahs” from golf fans.

The biggest renovation this time around has nothing to do with the golf course, which once again serves as a proving ground. Rather, it is where competitors prepare and recover from their rounds.

The Player Services project announced in 2025 consisted of two phases. The first is an underground player parking lot located under Magnolia Lane that was completed in advance of last year’s tournament. The second phase was completed ahead of this year’s tournament and is now more visual.

The Player Services Building will be a new addition to the venue for the 2026 tournament. Located behind the tournament practice field, this three-story building has all the facilities players need, including locker rooms, dining areas, lounges, physical therapy and fitness facilities, all in Masters quality. This building is for the players, their immediate families, caddies and coaches. In other words, neither patrons nor media members like you will actually have access to it.

There are many other changes and adjustments planned for this year’s tournament. Let’s take a look.

Augusta National

One year after Hurricane Helen caused major damage (downed trees) to both the Augusta, Georgia, community and the Augusta National Golf Club, golf courses will look much the same as they did the year before. According to the Masters’ official media guide, only one adjustment has been made for the 2026 tournament.

The tee front of the 17th hole (Nandina) has been shortened by 12 yards. As a result, the tee marker location has changed and the official yardage of the hole on the Masters scorecard is now 450 yards.

In 2025, the par 4 17th was played as the fourth most difficult hole, with an average score of 4.230. The hole has remained unchanged since 2014, when the Eisenhower Tree was removed after a historic ice storm.

equipment

No one does it like the Masters, and no one does the competition like Augusta National Golf Club. The new Player Services Building will be built among the trees behind the tournament practice range and will have nearly all the equipment players will need before and after their rounds.

The entrance hallway leads to the underground player parking lot, which in turn leads to the lobby. From there, players can enter a lounge area containing all four trophies from Bobby Jones’ 1930 Grand Slam. The trophies (British Amateur, British Open, U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur) are on loan from the Atlantic Athletic Club during tournament week, according to the Associated Press.

Meals also extend to the top floor Magnolia Dining Room, which features a terrace overlooking the tournament practice area. The building also has a large locker room with 100 lockers, as well as physio and fitness areas for players to use for preparation and recovery, and dining and lounge areas are just the beginning.

Augusta National President Fred Ridley said in April 2025, “These improvements are on pace for a full opening in 2026 and will provide competitors with Masters facilities from arrival to departure unlike any other in the sports world. The Athlete Services Project underscores our continued commitment to doing everything we can to serve Masters participants while they are here.”

merchandise

When it comes to purchasing memorabilia at the Masters, you have a variety of options. The merchandise shop is almost guaranteed to have new shirts, hats, and home goods waiting for you. But there’s one more item patrons are looking to acquire. It all starts with a simple question: “Are you a gnome person?” But this year’s edition may have some in the “no” camp having second thoughts. Masters Japan’s social media accounts released a video of the 2026 Nome. This video includes some fun and unexpected features. It’s an umbrella that you can tie and store in your hand or lean against it on rainy days. It might be worth plucking up the courage to line up for this one.

food menu

Augusta National is known for great discounts and low prices. The return of all staple foods means the debate between egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches continues unabated. Augusta National added a savory tomato pie ($3) to its menu last year, but has decided to debut another new product in 2026.

This is not a snack or a main dish, but a dessert. For the first time, Masters will offer its own candy bar ($2), a dark milk chocolate blend of caramel, rice crisp and hazelnut crunch. A variety of cookies and a staff favorite, the Georgia Peach Ice Cream Sandwich, will satisfy even your sweet tooth.
