It is not yet guaranteed that Chelsea will make a move for the Germany international, but they are said to be considering it, especially if Newcastle make a move for Delap.
Delap has had a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge and we understand that Newcastle are one of the clubs that have been informed of his potential signing this summer.
If Delap were to move on, Waltemade would certainly have the potential to be a solid replacement.

Waltemmed wasn’t entirely convincing at Newcastle, but he started well and attracted the attention of top clubs during his time at Stuttgart.
The 24-year-old could benefit from a change of scene and the chance to play in his preferred role more often, so joining the Blues could make some sense.
It may be a bit of a risk, but after Delap’s struggles since joining from Ipswich Town, it’s certainly worth trying something different from before.
Liam Delap likely to leave Chelsea
Our sources have previously said that Delap’s future at CFC is already in doubt, with Newcastle joined by the likes of Manchester United, Everton, Brighton and Sunderland, who are monitoring his situation closely.
Delap has been a huge failure at Chelsea this season with just one goal in 22 Premier League games, which could mean he doesn’t get much time to develop and prove himself.
Still, Delap impressed at Ipswich and there’s certainly a chance he can still have a decent career in the Premier League, even if he’s not suited for a club aiming for top four or titles.
