  • Hoops strengthen pursuit of midfielder as they look to win title
  • Celtic prepare for game against St Mirren
        • Celtic are currently planning to sign the 25-year-old star player on a free transfer. Big blow to Sheffield Wednesday

Celtic are hoping to sign Hibernian’s Miguel Chaihua in the summer transfer window and continue to make progress towards signing the midfielder.

Hoops strengthen pursuit of midfielder as they look to win title

With just one game remaining before splitting, the Hoops’ 2-1 win over Dundee FC at the weekend moved them just three points clear of league leaders Hearts, and they are well placed to begin a late-game chase for the Scottish Premiership title.

For the first time ever, the Parkhead side, who have won the league regularly at the canter in recent years, are coming to the end of an enchanting season, with what could prove to be a title-clinching match when they host Hearts on the final day.

Martin O’Neill’s side are still in position to win their 56th title, but they are well short of their usual standards and fans made their feelings towards the board very clear after last month’s 2-0 defeat at Dundee United.

The hierarchy has faced criticism due to a perceived lack of investment, but could be significantly strengthened during the summer transfer window, with a report from TEAMtalk revealing they have already identified seven targets.

Hibernian midfielder Chayiwa is one of them, with Celtic recently making fresh inquiries about signing the 21-year-old, who is very keen to move to Parkhead and could be available for as little as £1m to £2m.

The Hoops have ramped up their recruitment of young players on the back of some impressive performances in this season’s Scottish Premiership, with writer Michael Shearer praising him highly.

Mr. Shearer said: “Celtic target Miguel Chaihua ranks among the top U23 midfielders in world football for his fast defensive sprints. Elite pace, stamina and ball winning, exactly what Celtic were missing.”

Despite his age, the starlet has already featured 16 times for Zambia and has been a mainstay for Hibernian this season, averaging 1.5 interceptions per 90 in the Scottish Premiership, the most of any player in the team.

Celtic prepare for game against St Mirren

Celtic, who bounced back with their win over Dundee last time out, will be hoping to build momentum into the title race when they face St Mirren at Parkhead this Saturday.

Ahead of the important match, the board lifted the Green Brigade’s suspension and interim chairman Brian Wilson said he hoped the decision would have a positive impact on the atmosphere. “A fully united Celtic Park will be able to boost the team at this crucial stage of the season.”
