Liverpool are currently in contract negotiations with Oscar Mingueza, whose contract with Celta Vigo is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Liverpool’s consistent right-back problems
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence was always likely to be felt completely, but the arrival of Jeremy Frimpong, along with Conor Bradley’s development, should at least allay Liverpool’s concerns. But that wasn’t the case at all.
While Bradley has been out for a while with yet another injury, Frimpong has gone from being a player who rarely spends time in the medical room to being one of Liverpool’s biggest problems in that regard this season.
Neither player has claimed the right-back position to replace Alexander-Arnold. So, despite his usual midfield role, it was Dominik Szoboszlai who looked the most convincing in that position.

This is an issue that Liverpool will need to address this summer, alongside finding replacements for two legends in Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
The duo recently announced that they would be leaving the team at the end of the season. It shows how quickly the golden era is beginning to come to an end at Anfield.
Fabrizio Romano reveals Arne Slott’s big talks with Liverpool owner
The Dutchman is under huge pressure at Anfield.
If you think last summer was big, next summer may need to be even bigger. Mingueza could join the French defender in the coming months, with reports already mentioning the likes of Castello Lukeva.
Liverpool offer chance to sign Mingueza
As reported by TeamTalk, Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Mingueza on a free transfer this summer. The broker has started negotiations with the Reds over a deal, and has also approached the defender’s former club Barcelona.
The Spaniard will certainly have to make a big decision this summer, and that decision will reportedly center around the potential for game time, which Liverpool could potentially offer.
With the right-back spot in the hunt, the La Masia graduate could quickly turn into the ultimate deal if the Anfield side make a push and secure a deal.
Como scout Ben Mattinson said Mingueza, who has provided six assists this season and has the ability to attack from long range, could be a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, who Arne Slott still desperately needs.
Unfortunately, the ball is still in the defender’s court. He will have no shortage of suitors when the summer transfer window opens, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be able to lure him to Anfield instead of his old club in Spain.
