Liverpool began the process of signing a replacement in the summer transfer window after Mohamed Salah announced his decision to leave the club.
The Egyptian attacker is determined to end his glorious days as a prolific goalscorer at Anfield and begin a new adventure in his career.
One of Liverpool’s players to watch is Bayern Munich winger Michael Oliseh, but Football Insider claims it is highly unlikely for the Premier League giants to sign the Frenchman.
In theory, it makes perfect tactical sense for Liverpool to be raving about Olise. The 24-year-old embodies what a modern winger should be.
Michael Olise reaches world-class status
He scores goals, creates goals, has speed and dribbling quality and has the potential to get even better in the future.
Like Salah, Olise is a dynamic left-footed attacker who thrives by cutting inside from the right flank to coordinate play, thread the ball through and deliver devastating finishes.
Since leaving Crystal Palace for Bayern in the summer of 2024, Olise has elevated his game to a truly world-class level.
He adapted effortlessly to the immense pressure of playing in Europe’s superpower, becoming the creative center of Bayern’s attack and establishing himself as a regular in the French national team.
Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider:
“Obviously he would be a dream signing to replace Mohamed Salah if he leaves at the end of the season.
“He is still a player they are looking at because of the quality he has at his disposal.
“However, it is next to impossible for Liverpool to lure Michael Olise away from Bayern Munich. He is under contract until 2029 and is playing great football.”
“It was a world-class performance against Real Madrid in midweek.
“Signing Michael Olise is a bit of a pipe dream for Liverpool as Bayern are reluctant to sell him.”
Olise is tied to a lucrative long-term contract at the Allianz Arena, making it all but impossible for Liverpool to sign him this summer, giving the German giants ultimate leverage in potential negotiations.
Can Liverpool steal Olise from Bayern Munich?
To lure him away from Munich, Liverpool’s ownership group will need to completely disrupt their existing transfer history and wage structure.
Furthermore, Bayern’s own ambitions to win both the Bundesliga and the Champions League mean there is no incentive to hand over one of their brightest stars to give their direct rivals a boost in Europe.
It is perfectly legitimate for Liverpool’s recruitment team to aim for the absolute top of the market, but harsh economic realities will likely dictate their next steps.
Salah will need to be replaced in the summer with a player who can make a similar impact in terms of performance, but the latest reports suggest that that replacement will not be Olise.
