Ducati\u2019s Mark Marquez secured the lead in the 2025 MotoGP Championship by winning back-to-back Czech Grand Prix races. Despite starting second on the grid, Marquez overcame tire pressure challenges to claim victory in Saturday’s sprint race and entered Sunday\u2019s 21-lap Grand Prix as a strong favorite.<\/p>\n
After a reshuffle on the opening lap, Marquez took the lead from Aprilia\u2019s Marco Betzecchi on lap 8 and quickly pulled away. He maintained a comfortable gap to clinch his eighth win of the season, finishing nearly two seconds ahead. This victory made him the first Ducati rider to achieve five consecutive 37-point weekends.<\/p>\n
With his closest rival Alex Marquez crashing early, Mark extended his championship lead to 120 points heading into the summer break. On Sunday, Pecco Bagnaia took the hole shot, leading initially alongside teammates Marquez, Yamaha\u2019s Fabio Quartararo, and Aprilia\u2019s Betzecchi.<\/p>\n
Marquez attempted to seize the lead early but was pushed back by Bagnaia. By the end of the first lap, Betzecchi gained momentum and took the lead, holding it until Marquez closed in on lap 8 and passed him at turn 3. Marquez then established a comfortable lead, maintaining a gap of over two seconds by lap 16.<\/p>\n
Marquez crossed the finish line 1.753 seconds ahead of Betzecchi, whose podium finish moved him to fourth in the standings. Pedro Acosta secured third place for KTM\u2019s first Grand Prix season, defending his position against Bagnaia, who made a mistake on the final lap. Bagnaia now trails the championship by 168 points.<\/p>\n
Raul Fernandez of Truckhouse Aprilia finished fifth, ahead of Quartararo, while returning champion Jorge Martin came seventh after starting 12th on the grid. Rookie Fermin Aldeguer placed eighth after overtaking KTM\u2019s Brad Binder late in the race, with Tech3 stand-in Pol Espargaro completing the top ten.<\/p>\n
Pramac\u2019s Jack Miller finished 11th alongside Honda\u2019s Lucamarini and LCR\u2019s Johann Zarco. Tech3\u2019s Enea Bastianini crashed out while in fourth place on lap 7, and Alex Marquez collided with Honda\u2019s Joan Mir on lap 2, an incident currently under investigation.<\/p>\n
