Osaka is moving forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>MONTREAL &#8211; Two-time defending champion Jessica Pegra was eliminated in the third round of the National Bank Open after a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 loss to Anastasya Sevastova on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Sebastova, 35, from Latvia, ranked 11th in 2018 but fell to 386th, but defeated third-seeded Pegra six times with 10 chances.<\/p>\n<p>The loss followed by fourth-placed Pegra, who won the opening game in Montreal over Greece&#8217;s Maria Saccari, but ended Wimbledon and the DC Open after a single game in July.<\/p>\n<p>Sebastova will win 6-2, 6-4 with Latvian 22nd seed Jelena Ostapenko before moving on to the fourth round, facing Osaka&#8217;s Naomi.<\/p>\n<p>Osaka, a former No. 1 player from Japan, hit five aces and converted six of his nine breakpoint opportunities to win the match in an hour and 12 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>In other daytime results, Danish 16-seeded Clara Towson scored a 6-3, 6-0 third-round victory over Ukraine&#8217;s Yulyastadubtusueva.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament&#8217;s second seed, Wimbledon champion Iga Sweet, found the evening session.
