Azerbaijan will hold the World Championship Grand Prix until at least the end of 2030 after launching a new four-year contract to stay on the Formula 1 calendar.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2025 edition of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is \u200b\u200bthe ninth running of a race around the Baku City Circuit on the Caspian coast and is the 10th anniversary of the country’s first race in 2016, held under the 2016 European Grand Prix Monica.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.73mi track quickly developed its reputation as a wildcard venue. Sergio Perez won multiple events with only one driver. Charles Leclerc is the only multiple pausetter with four P1 starts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The contract for the state-backed event was expected to expire at the end of next season, but the New Deal announced today ensures that the race will continue into the beginning of the next decade.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Formula 1 has consistently received a warm and enthusiastic reception from the people of Azerbaijani,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. \u201cThe circuit is unique, with its technical sections and long straights that pass through the stunning coastline and historic old town, offering an entertaining and eventful race every year.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis update reflects the strong trust and commitment between Formula 1, the government of Azerbaijan and the promoters, paving the way for a country’s exciting future.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I would like to thank President Ilham Aliyev and Minister (Farid) Gaibov for their continued investment and commitment to the evolution of the event. Formula 1 to defend Anar Arakbarov and the Azerbaijan Automotive Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gaibov said the grand prix is \u200b\u200bessential to Azerbaijan’s plan to become a “global hub of major sporting events.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Over the years, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has grown into one of the most anticipated races on the Formula 1 calendar, showing not only thrilling on-track action, but also the beauty, energy and hospitality of our capital.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis extension reaffirms our commitment to hosting world-class events and further strengthens Azerbaijan’s position on the international stage.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We continue to present Baku as a vibrant, world-class sports destination, welcoming fans from around the world and experience both the excitement of Formula 1 and the unique spirit of our city and country.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The other three events will reach the final year of their contract next season. This is the US Grand Prix in Austin, the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, \u200b\u200band the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.<\/span><\/p>\n

While Austin is expected to remain on the calendar, Barcelona has already been replaced by Madrid as the host of Spain’s national events, local organizers hope to secure an extension deal.<\/span><\/p>\n
