Tokyo – Top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz defeated No. 5 Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 in the title of this year’s eighth singles title.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz’s 24th career single title was choked with a cleverly sliced \u200b\u200bdrop shot winner, losing in two sets to Fritz in the Laver Cup Team event.<\/p>\n

The Spaniards also improved their season record to the tour’s top 67-7 as they remained on the course due to the season’s No. 1 ranking.<\/p>\n

“It’s definitely been my best season so far,” Alcaraz said. “It shows how hard I worked to experience these moments and achieve my goals.”<\/p>\n

The final in Tokyo was Alcaraz’s ninth straight set since March, when he lost in 64 rounds at the Miami Masters since March. He was 7-2 in those finals, one of which was from Janik Thinner from Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t start a year that was so good, an emotionally struggling year,” Alcaraz admitted.<\/p>\n
