Since arriving on Tyneside, he has made 106 appearances, most recently coming on as a substitute for the unwell Kieran Trippier in last weekend’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to West Ham.

Despite playing in that game, the Sweden international has fallen down the pecking order of Eddie Howe’s squad, which is why he was allowed to leave in January, with high-profile clubs looking to sign him.

Emil Kraft attracts interest from FC Copenhagen

<picture></picture>
Emil Craft will represent Newcastle in the Carabao Cup. (Photo by George Wood/Getty Images)

According to Shields Gazette, Danish giants FC Copenhagen are interested in bringing Kraft closer to home. The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and there is speculation that Newcastle may be prepared to accept a reduced contract for a player who is destined to end his playing career at the club in 2026.

Given the fact that Newcastle have Tino Libramento and Trippier ahead of Kraft in their pecking order, with Malik Thiau filling in during the game, it makes sense for the veteran defender to leave. A move to Copenhagen would make a lot of sense as it would allow him to be closer to his home country of Sweden.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Kraft will leave in January or if the decision will be made to play through the summer. That would give Howe even more depth in the second half of the season.

Newcastle could allow one of their first-team players to leave in January.
