Dettweiler was seriously injured following a collision with Jose Antonio Rueda during a sighting lap in Sepang, where both riders suffered cardiac arrest at the side of the track. He spent several days in intensive care, with doctors lauding his remarkable recovery. <\/p>\n
Despite this progress, the 20-year-old’s full recovery remains uncertain, forcing him to withdraw from his Moto3 seat with Sic58 Squadra Corse. \u201cI was very excited about the chance to ride in Moto3 with Paolo Simoncelli\u2019s team,\u201d Dettweiler stated in December. \u201cBut without a clear timeline for a complete recovery, it\u2019s not the right moment to take on such a significant challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sic58 has since brought in fellow Swiss rider Leo Lammerstorfer to replace Dettweiler for the 2026 Moto3 season. At the time of the Sepang incident, Dettweiler was competing for CIP Green Power toward the end of his second Moto3 season, with a best finish of 14th in a Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Rueda has advanced to Moto2 this year, riding for Red Bull KTM Ajo.<\/p>\n
