His death was confirmed Friday night by Chad Funderburk, a family friend and collaborator at Gore\u2019s baseball academy, who chose to leave further information to the family.<\/p>\n<p>Known not only for his athletic prowess but also for his kindness, Gore was described by Funderburk as a generous figure who continuously supported many young people. \u201cThat\u2019s who Terrance was,\u201d Funderburk remarked.<\/p>\n<p>A Georgia native, Gore was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 20th round of the 2011 amateur draft. Over his MLB career, he appeared in 112 regular season games for the Royals, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles , and New York Mets. He posted a .216 batting average, scored 33 runs, and successfully stole 43 bases out of 52 attempts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTerrance was a special talent responsible for some of the Royals\u2019 most memorable moments and left a lasting mark on our organization,\u201d Royals general manager JJ Piccolo said. \u201cWhile his speed and athleticism stood out, those who knew him also remember his energy, humility, and his impact during the game\u2019s most crucial moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Primarily utilized as a pinch runner and defensive substitute, Gore made his MLB debut with Kansas City in 2014, stealing 23 bases that year. His first MLB hit came while playing for the Cubs\u2014a single to center field during a September 8, 2018 game against Max Scherzer\u2019s Washington Nationals.<\/p>\n<p>Gore took part in two postseason games during the Royals\u2019 2015 championship run, contributed in two regular season games when the  won the World Series in 2020, and appeared in one National League playoff game in 2021 with the Mets, the year the Braves won the title.<\/p>\n<p>Former Royals executive Dayton Moore commended Gore\u2019s thrilling style of play, saying, \u201cTerrance brought excitement and anticipation to every game, inspiring athletes nationwide to chase their baseball dreams.
