But that hasn&#8217;t stopped companies from flooding us with putter prototypes.<\/p>\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a fan of low-torque (also known as zero-torque) putters, you&#8217;ll definitely be excited this week.<\/p>\n<p>First up is the new LAB Link 2.1 and 2.2 tour announcement. But what&#8217;s interesting is that both putters feature LAB&#8217;s new HS riser hosel, which was introduced last summer with the OZ.1i HS.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it features a new deep fly milled face. I&#8217;m very interested in this because previous LAB faces have been either too soft or too hard for me.<\/p>\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<p>But LAB wasn&#8217;t the only company offering a new heel shaft low-torque option. Bettinardi unveiled several new &#8220;Hexpirmental&#8221; prototypes at the Cognizant Classic, each appearing to feature the company&#8217;s new low-torque hosel.<\/p>\n<p>Bettinardi&#8217;s Antidote low torque line currently comes in four shapes, all center shafted. But the company appears to have come up with a new hosel that resembles a traditional long plumber&#8217;s neck, but with the shaft pointing toward the center of the putter.<\/p>\n<section class=\"consent\"\/>\n<p>The concept seems to be very similar to LAB&#8217;s riser hosel and Odyssey&#8217;s S2S Tri-Hot SB used by Max Glaserman, and the shaft is raised to match the center of gravity of the putter, giving it a toe-up effect.<\/p>\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Bettinardi&#8217;s take on it looks like as much of a traditional endeavor as anything we&#8217;ve seen so far.<\/p>\n<p>So far we have only seen two shapes. The high-toed widebody Blade SS9 and a new mid-mallet option similar to the Odyssey Jailbird and Scotty Cameron Fastback with rear windows.<\/p>\n<p>But looking at the photos showing Bettinardi&#8217;s new VFT milling pattern and the FIT face currently in the Antidote line, it appears there are already plenty of options for face milling.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Scotty Cameron also unveiled a new prototype for pros this week with a new T12 mallet.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know much about this, so you&#8217;ll have to check out the photos of the GolfWRX for yourself, but we&#8217;ll address the elephant in the room and admit that it&#8217;s pretty obvious what kind of look and performance Cameron is going for here. But before anyone starts throwing blame, know that almost every OEM has the exact same putter and technology as everyone else&#8217;s. People like what works, so there&#8217;s no point in trying to create something radically different from what&#8217;s working.<\/p>\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s interesting here is that the last time we looked at the Phantom X-Line Scotty &#8220;12&#8221; mallet, it also had a gap between the wing and the center of the putter. However, that putter seemed to be larger and focused on delivering ultra-high MOI.<\/p>\n<p>We haven&#8217;t heard any details yet about the T3 mallet (the one Ryan Gerard is gaming with), which has been on sale since last summer, so we don&#8217;t know when this will be released. The T12 we saw at GolfWRX doesn&#8217;t appear to have the new SCS insert or chain link face milling like the rest of the 2026 Phantom line, so don&#8217;t expect anything right away.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Two_works_of_art_will_appear\"><\/span>Two works of art will appear<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<section class=\"consent\"\/>\n<p>All of these new prototypes look great, but the only new prototype putters that were actually used this week were the two Odyssey Damascus Milled No. 7s.<\/p>\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Yes, you read that correctly! Damascus!<\/p>\n<p>Damascus steel is one of the materials typically used to give high-end boutique putters a unique look. The material is usually based on carbon steel and is welded, bent or forged to create a unique look unique to the piece.<\/p>\n<p>Though it&#8217;s considered more art than performance material, Chris Kirk and Kevin Yu both bagged the new Odyssey Damascus cane at Cognizant this week. Kirk played the single-bend version, while Yu played the version with a crank hosel.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"check_this_out\"><\/span>check this out<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em>In this section, we&#8217;ll show you some cool photos we took recently while on tour, but didn&#8217;t have a reason to share yet.
