Indeed, he is good on the ball and will work wonders in Spurs’ build-up structure, protecting the backline and uniting his teammates.

If Tottenham were to lose Palinha this summer, he would certainly need to be replaced with a suitable number six, but Hackney has all the skills to establish himself as the new mainstay in the middle and is someone who can help spark De Zerbi’s set-up.

League form comparison (2025/26)

Statistics (* per 90)

straw

hackney

Match (start)

33(23)

39(38)

Goal + Assist

5+2

5+7

touch*

46.1

83.9

Exact path*

25.9 (82%)

54.3 (86%)

A big opportunity has arisen

1

8

Key pass*

0.2

2.2

Loss of ownership*

8.2

16.6

It was successful. dribble*

0.3

1.4

Ball recovery rate*

2.8

5.3

Tackle + Interception*

4.2

2.2

clearance*

1.8

0.7

Win a duel*

5.8

4.8

Parinha is one of the most ball-winning midfielders in Premier League history.
