SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — We’re ready for a great weekend in New York. Shinnecock Hills Golf Club has yet to really show its teeth, but expectations are high for a real tough test starting with Saturday’s Moving Day.<\/p>\n

Windham Clark, aiming for his second title in this tournament, enters the first day with a four-stroke lead. But Clark has some interesting stats to add heading into the weekend, as no 36-hole leader has been able to finish the show on this course in the past five tournaments. Additionally, Clark is 0-for-7 despite holding the lead\/sub-lead through 18 holes in his career.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Collin Morikawa will start the weekend at 2 under. And players like Justin Thomas, Sam Barnes, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy aren’t far behind. The USGA has set the final pairing for Clark and 2022 U.S. Open champion Fitzpatrick at 3:45 p.m. ET, so Clark is scheduled to tee off in the late afternoon. Schauffele will look to apply pressure alongside Sam Stevens on the penultimate tee time at 3:34 p.m. By the time these groups tee off, some of the big names in the chase group will be nearing the turn. McIlroy and Maverick McNeely will tee off at 2:12 p.m., before Scheffler and Brian Herman will line up at 2:01 p.m.<\/p>\n

The USGA sent a text message to players late Friday night saying it expected conditions to be even tougher on Saturday, with plans to dry the greens and adjust pin locations due to strong winds expected off the coast. Many expect to see many over-par scores by the end of the day.<\/p>\n
