Evian-les-Bains, France (AP) — Helan Liu birdied the first hole of a playoff against Brooke Henderson to win the Evian championship on Sunday, clinching her second consecutive major title in three weeks.<\/p>\n
The South Korean golfer defended her victory at the Women’s Professional Golf Championship on June 29 at Hazeltine National Golf Club, saying she is “living a dream right now.”<\/p>\n
Ryu (level par 71) and Henderson (7-under 64) finished the week at 19-under par at Evian Golf Resort, with Henderson making three eagles in the final round and aiming for the third major title of his career. That included a hole-in-one on the 8th and an eagle on the 18th, sending the 2022 champions into the playoffs.<\/p>\n
They fell back on the 18th and Henderson had to lay up after pulling a drive, but ended up making par.<\/p>\n
Hyun-jin Ryu, who shot a 60 in the lowest round of a major on Saturday, sank a birdie putt from 3 feet and became the first woman in golf to win two majors in the same year.<\/p>\n
No. 1 ranked Nelly Korda won the first two majors of 2026, the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open. Before Korda, no golfer had won back-to-back majors on the LPGA Tour since 2013.<\/p>\n
