Growing up near Toronto, the Keefe brothers quickly found their way into hockey. Sheldon mentioned, “I don\u2019t know much about sibling rivalry. With a four-year age gap, I think I mostly carved my own path. But it probably influenced some of the competitive edge he developed. When Adam got older, it was obvious I wouldn\u2019t go easy on him anymore. We played hockey, fought in the basement, competed in the driveway and on the streets. He had to play with my friends and keep up.”<\/p>\n
Adam agreed, adding, \u201cYou have to work hard and sometimes face setbacks. If you want to stay in the game, you need to fight back, and I certainly did. Sheldon set a high standard and was a great example for me. During those crucial teenage years, he looked out for me and set me on a good course. I followed his coaching career while trying to make the NHL to ensure he kept winning. Eventually, he returned to the NHL as one of the youngest coaches in the league, leading arguably the biggest hockey club in the world. That\u2019s truly special.\u201d<\/p>\n
