Poland’s Hubert Halkacz was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon after failing to recover from surgery, the former World No. 6 said on Friday.<\/p>\n

Hurkacz has not played since withdrawing from Libema Open earlier this month due to a lower back injury. The fifth seed of the tournament was forced to get two medical timeouts in the first round victory before he retreated.<\/p>\n

Hurkacz also underwent meniscus surgery on his right knee after retiring from his second match at Wimbledon last year. He was the seventh species.<\/p>\n

“Together with my team, I have decided to withdraw from Wimbledon this year,” Harukachi said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“My body responded during preparation – synovial stimulation – this is part of my recovery process from surgery. It requires rest and treatment, and I need to listen.”<\/p>\n

The Wimbledon draw was early Friday. Hurkacz was to play Briton Billy Harris in the first round of the Grass Court Grand Slam, which begins Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
