Newcastle United, who have fallen behind in front of goal this season, are reportedly ready to make a move in 2026 for the £40m-plus striker who just humiliated Real Madrid.

Newcastle scoring problem

It’s no surprise that Newcastle are struggling in front of goal. They just lost one of the Premier League’s best strikers, Alexander Isak, to a record deal. Replacing the Swede’s work is never easy, but replacing his underrated creativity has so far proven even harder.

Nick Woltemade has ticked the goal box himself so far with three goals in his first four Premier League games, but players like Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga still struggle to contribute around him.

Newcastle have scored six goals in total in the Premier League. Only Nottingham Forest and bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers have fared worse, and there’s no denying that this is a problem that Eddie Howe will have to solve.

However, the manager is not panicking, telling reporters earlier this season: “I’m excited for us to be a team. We certainly have things to learn about each other and experiment and create ways that we know work.

“The most important thing is that the fundamentals are solid. The team is playing strong, but we’re just missing that X-factor that we think is coming. We have some players who can definitely score goals, and we have players who have historically done that.”

It is the January transfer window that will certainly help find the ‘X-factor’. After such a tumultuous summer, the Magpies are reportedly ready to be back in action in hopes of further enhancing their attacking options this winter.

Newcastle preparing to make offer for Soros

According to reports in Spain, Newcastle are currently preparing an offer to sign Alexander Sorloth from Real Madrid on a contract worth 50 million euros (approximately 4.4 billion yen). The Atlético Madrid forward has started just three La Liga games so far this season and may be forced to look elsewhere for consistent appearances in the near future.

Newcastle will be well aware of the player’s situation, having sent scouts to the game against Real Madrid, where he scored the equalizer in a 5-2 win over Atletico’s rivals.

The big question is whether Diego Simeone and Atletico will allow Soltros to leave in 2026.

The iconic manager was full of praise for the forward when he scored the fastest hat-trick in La Liga history against Real Sociedad last season, saying: “Overall I was very happy with the team’s first half.

“Of course, Alex is a completely different matter. He had a great night, especially in the first 45 minutes, scoring every ball that came his way.”

If Newcastle have a chance, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to head to Solloth. He is a proven striker at the top level these days and has unfinished business in the Premier League after his struggles at Crystal Palace.
