Liverpool are currently in talks to sign the Premier League attacker after representatives visited the AXA training center.

Slott admits ‘challenge’ to selection ahead of match against Brighton

The Reds secured victory against Sunderland as if their current problems had been completely resolved in midweek. But this sums up their campaign in one word.

No one knows whether there will be a Premier League champion any day now, or whether Arne Slott’s fragile side will emerge, as we have seen so often at Anfield in recent months.

Slott will be keen to bring some stability to his side after the win at the Stadium of Light and the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup provides a platform to do just that.

The FA Cup is also an opportunity for Liverpool to rest certain star players and give the likes of Rio Ngmoja a chance to further impress. But Slott admitted that choosing the team for this Saturday’s match was no easy task.

The Dutchman told reporters: “It’s also a challenge. It took me a long time to go to bed (last night) because I was always thinking about what options I had in the lineup and what I should do.

Better than Wertz: Liverpool star played his best game all season against Sunderland

Liverpool returned to the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Sunderland.

“Are we going to play with the same players again, or will it be a moment for other players, but which players will be in which other positions? We need another 24 hours to decide on the lineup.”

Meanwhile, the selection woes are likely to worsen in the summer if Liverpool welcome further reinforcements after a difficult season.

Jeremy Jaquet is already gearing up for that, with Charlie Cresswell and, according to recent reports, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Mane also likely to join.

Liverpool hold talks to sign Matthaus Mane

DaveOCKOP reports that Liverpool are in direct talks to sign Mane from Wolves this summer, with his agent already visiting the AXA training ground ahead of a potential move, but the race will involve all of England’s top clubs.

And while the Reds are not the only ones interested in the forward’s breakthrough, AXA is one of the few transfer destinations his agent has accepted so far.

Mane has been the lone bright spark in Wolves’ incredibly dark season, contributing four goals in the Premier League and earning plenty of praise from manager Rob Edwards at just 18 years old.

The Wolves manager told reporters after the win against West Ham United earlier this season: “He ended his performance with a great goal.

Liverpool have had major problems in central midfield this season.

“He played very boldly again and played with real dedication. He’s 18 years old, but he’s like a little leader on the pitch. I think that’s contagious. I believe he will inspire others, with his energy and enthusiasm.”
