The Rangers are eyeing the chance to sign a ‘fearless’ player for next season, and have been given a boost as Gers manager Danny Rolle is also a true fan.

Gers make summer plans as they aim for Scottish Premiership title

This is shaping up to be one of the most fascinating title races Scottish football has seen in a generation.

Hearts lead the table with 66 points, Rangers are two points behind them in second place and Celtic are two points further back in third place. With seven games remaining, all three clubs are separated by five points.

All results between now and May will be crucial, and there is now little room for error on Roll’s side.

Rangers go into the international break on a high after beating Aberdeen 4-1 at Ibrox on Saturday. This result ensures Rangers continue to catch up and put pressure on Hearts heading into the decisive final stages.

Rolle has transformed the club’s fortunes since arriving in the dugout and his performances have been backed by a squad that has attracted serious attention from clubs far beyond Scotland.

Emmanuel Fernandes’ name has been on everyone’s lips lately, the towering 24-year-old centre-back who was signed from Peterborough for around £4m last summer.

Rangers deal with ‘very serious’ financial concerns as £32m deficit with Celtic raises alarm

Gyor will be in serious trouble if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

TEAMtalk reported on Wednesday that Rangers could demand a staggering £35m for the Nigeria international. The amount would shatter the club’s all-time transfer record and dwarf the £19.6m he received from Ajax for Calvin Bassey in 2022.

Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea are all believed to be monitoring Fernandes, with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen also linked.

Fernandes’ contract runs until 2029 and Rolle would ideally want to keep him, but such a valuation could make the Ibrox board very tempted.

But amid all this outward speculation, the Rangers are similarly focused on retaining players they really don’t want to lose. And that battle is largely in the hands of clubs 400 miles south fighting to remain in the Premier League.

Mikey Moore keen to play for Rangers next season

Mikey Moore is one of the defining figures of the Scottish Premiership season.

The 18-year-old Tottenham winger is instinctively quick and direct in key moments, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 40 appearances for Rangers this season.

He gave his all on Saturday, producing another eye-catching performance in the rout of Aberdeen, to the delight of Ibrox.

After that performance, Moore spoke for the first time about his future. And his message couldn’t be clearer.

The ‘fearless’ England youth international said he has cherished every moment of his time in Glasgow and said Rangers were the club that truly fell in love with him.

Now, TEAMtalk has reported that a source close to the player has admitted that if given the opportunity, he would not hesitate to accept a second loan to Ibrox.

The problem, of course, is that that decision is not his to make.

Tottenham are currently one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League and face an uncertain final round, but they hold all the cards in their hands. If they go down, Moore is expected to be recalled and included in a team that needs him in order to push for promotion to the Championship.

If they survive, which remains the more likely outcome despite their precarious position, they are understood to be open to letting him out on loan again, with Rangers at the front of the queue.

Club executives aren’t just sitting around waiting for answers. Negotiations with Tottenham have already begun, with Roll supporting them every step of the way.

Regarding the recent situation, the Rangers manager spoke candidly about his feelings and how highly he rates the Englishman.

“I think there’s always that conversation, but when Mikey has a performance like this, you know Mikey is enjoying playing for the Rangers,” Rohr said.

“The fans love him and I like him. He’s a key player. I think we can do a lot of good things together again, but we know he’s not our player yet. Let’s work in all directions over the next few weeks, but the most important thing is that we get a good result in the next seven games.”

Winning the title would go a long way to making everyone at Ibrox happy, potentially including Moore.
