  • The statistics behind Rio Ngmoha’s performance against Fulham
  • Ngmoha’s display could have an impact on Liverpool’s star player
        • Liverpool could accept a £55m bid for their next signing Szoboszlai

Liverpool finally ended their recent losing streak in all competitions with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Fulham on Merseyside last night.

Arne Slott’s side put in a superb performance to earn the three points, boosting the club’s hopes of finishing within the top five of the Premier League.

The Reds are now four points behind Chelsea ahead of this afternoon’s clash with Manchester City, with hopes of taking Champions League football into their own hands.

At Anfield on Saturday, many players rose to the occasion. Among them was Mohamed Salah, who found the back of the net with his trademark curled shot into the top corner.

However, it was the performance of another Reds star that was the talk of the town among supporters, and rightly so given his excellent performance against the Cottage.

The statistics behind Rio Ngmoha’s performance against Fulham

Winger Rio Ngmoha, who has been featured on the bench a number of times in recent weeks, was given a rare chance to impress from the off against Fulham.

The 17-year-old is a player who is causing a lot of excitement for Liverpool’s fan base and last night they got a new look at his talent.

He played 69 minutes in the contest on Merseyside, racking up a number of incredible results and attracting attention for his continued attacking quality.

Ngmoha managed to score his second Premier League goal of the season during the victory, before curling into the bottom corner of the goal with some fine curling.

He also completed two dribbles into the final third and found his teammates on 100% of his attempted crosses. This was probably the team’s biggest offensive threat.

Ngmoha’s display could have an impact on Liverpool’s star player

Over the years, Liverpool have been blessed with countless attacking talents, but following the departures of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the club’s frontline has been significantly reduced.

Kodi Gakpo has been active on the left side of the attack in recent months, with the Dutchman switching to a centre-forward role against Fulham.

Ultimately, the decision was made to allow Ngmoha to play on the left, a decision that proved to be the right one given his impressive attack.

As a result, the Dutchman could struggle to regain a starting role under Slott, while the Englishman is entitled to a consistent starting role in the Premier League.

As a result, the 26-year-old is likely to drop down the pecking order, which could spell even worse news for Federico Chiesa, who is likely to be third choice.

The Italian, who joined in 2024 for a fee in the region of £10m, has not made much of an impact since arriving at Anfield, with many questioning his influence at the club.

He has made 47 senior appearances in all competitions, but has only scored five times, highlighting his lack of impact in the final third.

Like Gakpo, he has struggled for consistency in the slot manager recently, with the 28-year-old playing just 25 minutes in a league game since the beginning of March.

However, the basic statistics of the ongoing campaign show his struggles as Ngmoha is the player who could end Chiesa’s two-year spell on Merseyside.

The former Juventus star has only completed 71% of the passes he attempts and then ranks in the bottom 8% of forwards in his division.

So far this season, he has created just 0.9 chances per 90 and has completed just 18% of his dribbles, ranking him in the bottom 7% of Premier League players.

Chiesa has struggled to outrun his opponents in recent months, as evidenced by his paltry 37% duel win rate, the second lowest of any player on the team.

The aforementioned stats recently released by the Italian highlight how disappointing he has been for the Reds, and his lack of action is certainly justified.

However, Ngmoha’s impressive performance against the Cottage yesterday will only further limit his game time, with the teenager needing an extended starting role in future matches.

At just 17 years old, he is undoubtedly the future of the football club and Slott needs to have full faith in the youngster to help him reach the heights possible.
