  • European clubs express interest in signing Rangers star Baron
  • Why Rangers should sign Connor Barron

Much of Rangers’ summer has focused on new signings, including Lawrence Shankland and, more recently, Cammy Devlin. But that may be about to change, with a number of stars attracting interest from elsewhere.

For example, Lyon’s interest in Youssef Cermiti is well-documented, and Nicolas Raskin could still be headed for the exit as well. But before those stories play out, Connor Barron could be gone.

Football Fancast Verdict

reliability

There is a lot of interest in Baron. The Rangers midfielder has two years left on his contract and a battle has broken out between Eintracht Frankfurt, Lazio and Bologna to sign him this summer.

finances

It remains to be seen how much Rangers value the midfielder. With two years left on his contract, he could be forced to sell for less than his asking price, but it could ultimately depend on whether Baron himself wants to leave.

insight

Baron is interesting. The European interest shows how talented he is, but the 23-year-old was not a consistent starter in last season’s Scottish Premiership, which suggests Rangers can afford to acquire the cash for the right price.

impact

Mr. Barron’s departure will be more bad news for Mr. Raskin than anyone else. Rangers may not want to lose two midfielders in the same period unless they welcome another, which would delay Raskin’s departure.

Rangers’ transfer window appears to have just begun, and the exit door could be wide open.

European clubs express interest in signing Rangers star Baron

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports that Frankfurt, Lazio and Bologna are interested in signing Baron. The midfielder has two years left on his current contract and has a lot to think about.

It’s been a busy summer for the Gers in terms of arrivals, but they may still need to sell to fund further arrivals. Given that Baron has not yet signed a new contract and is yet to become a permanent starter, all parties could come to an agreement this summer.

Why Rangers should sign Connor Barron

Selling Baron would be a cruel decision on the part of those at Ibrox, but perhaps it is necessary. He is now 23 years old and should be a permanent fixture in the heart of Rangers’ midfield. However, things haven’t worked out that way so far, so a big offer should be accepted this summer.

Injuries have not helped the young midfielder in any way, but Rangers are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership and their additions suggest they have no time for sentimentality.
