The dynamic Brazilian showcased his outstanding form by netting two goals during Barcelona’s 5-1 triumph over Feyenoord in their Champions League debut on Wednesday.
His two goals, alongside his six in La Liga, elevate Raphinha to the top of Europe’s scoring charts with a total of eight.
Raphinha opened the scoring just three minutes into the match, receiving a pass from Lamine Yamal in the box. With one deft touch, he evaded two defenders before shooting past the keeper.
He made it 3-0 in the 57th minute with an assist from Pedri, contributing to a goal previously scored by Karim Adeyemi.
After being substituted late in the game, Raphinha was quick to celebrate with Yamal on the sidelines after he scored from a free kick.
“The reality is that a season has its ups and downs, and starting this season gives us a lot of confidence,” Raphinha told Movistar Plus.

The adaptable Brazilian, who dons the No. 11 jersey and possesses a rare combination of energy and finishing prowess, was not originally intended to lead the team’s offensive line.
After losing both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres in the offseason, Barcelona sought to fill those gaps with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Álvarez. Ultimately, they made a last-minute acquisition of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, who came on late to net the fifth goal for Barcelona in Wednesday’s match. With expectations for Jesus primarily as a substitute, many questioned whether the team would struggle to score.
Now, it appears that the decision not to invest heavily in another striker may turn out to be wise, especially with signings like Rodri from Manchester City and wingers such as Anthony Gordon and Adeyemi over the summer.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick expressed his satisfaction with the squad following their fifth consecutive win. He praised Raphinha for the forward momentum and energy he adds, which is crucial for the quick ball recovery he emphasizes near goal-scoring opportunities.
“Raphinha showcased his great energy today,” Flick noted. “We excel in transitions and counter-attacks, as well as maintaining possession to create scoring chances.”

At 29 years old, Raphinha has already shown he can reinvent his game.
He arrived at Barcelona from Leeds in 2022 as a speedy, industrious winger. However, after Lamine Yamal emerged as the primary right-side player, it seemed Raphinha might leave the club.
Rather than depart, Raphinha proved his adaptability by excelling as a left-side player and even playing in central roles. This transformation led to an impressive total of 34 goals in the 2024-25 season, contributing to Barcelona’s victories in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and a semifinal appearance in the Champions League.
Last season, however, he faced injury issues and had his World Cup run with Brazil cut short due to a hamstring injury. Consequently, he did not make the list of 30 finalists for the Ballon d’Or announced on Tuesday, despite having finished fifth in the 2025 voting.
This season, Raphinha has been pivotal in Barcelona’s formidable start in La Liga, where they have outscored their competition 17-2 over four matches. This goal differential of +15 marks the best opening for the club in its history.
When asked about his absence from the Ballon d’Or list, Raphinha opted not to elaborate.
“I prefer to focus on Barça’s outstanding season,” he remarked.
