Dixon had previously tested at Magny-Cours during the summer break with Honda to familiarize himself with the track. Ahead of the Italian round, he and Honda tried a similar approach at Cremona, despite challenging weather conditions. “It was a good test,” Dixon commented. “We were fortunate to get more dry laps than the weather forecast suggested. In the afternoon, heavy rain set in, but we managed to complete some wet laps, which was beneficial. Now, we’ll see how things go during the race. We have a week off to recover after a hectic few days, then we’ll aim to keep progressing step by step.”
Dixon’s teammate, Somkiat Chantra, shared that he managed to find a solid overall bike setup during the test and also worked on tuning a wet-weather setup. “Our goal was to adapt the bike and work on its setup in preparation for the race in ten days,” Chantra said. “We identified a setup that isn’t bad, but the mixed weather conditions forced us to adjust our agenda. Despite that, it went well. We found some promising settings for both rain and dry conditions. I’d say our dry setup is about 80 percent ready, and the rest we’ll adjust throughout the race weekend.”
