With jockey Mario Gutierrez aboard, Conceit stayed relaxed in fourth place before rallying down the stretch to win over seven furlongs on a fast track in a time of 1:23.13.
Conceit entered the race off a victory in the $200,000 Audubon Oaks at Ellis Park and took advantage of the early speed duel between 1-4 favorite Explora, a five-time stakes winner, and Movie Night, who closely trailed the leader. Celebrating his 40th birthday, Gutierrez praised Conceit’s determination, calling her a worthy birthday present. The win earned Conceit $185,000, pushing her career earnings to $434,883 with a record of four wins, one second, and one third in seven starts. Conceit, sired by Not This Time out of the Tapit mare Pachinko, was bred in Kentucky by her owners.
Trainer Cox highlighted Conceit’s progress on dirt and expressed gratitude to Juddmonte for entrusting them with another talented homebred, underscoring the filly’s promising future. In the $295,000 Harrods Creek Stakes for 3-year-olds, Doublecents claimed victory by 1 ½ lengths after overtaking pacesetter Creole Chrome in the final furlong and holding off a late challenge from Tagermeen. Son of Goldencents, Doublecents, trained by Brett Creighton and ridden by Francisco Arrieta, finished seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:22.48. This marked his first stakes win in six career starts, boosting his earnings to $317,926. Doublecents broke well, settled just behind the leader, and showed a strong finishing kick to hold the lead.
Doublecents, bred in Kentucky by Clark Brewster, is out of the Uncle Mo mare Moka Latte. The Harrods Creek Stakes is named for the Louisville neighborhood near the creek of the same name, an area incorporated into Louisville after the city’s 2003 merger with Jefferson County.
Juddmonte secured another win with Consequent in the $199,000 Seneca Overnight Stakes for 3-year-old fillies. Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert and ridden by Flavien Prat, Consequent took command with half a mile left and extended her lead to win by 4 ¾ lengths over Answered Prayers. Running 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:43.06, the daughter of Into Mischief out of the Uncle Mo mare Cognitive remained undefeated in four starts, earning her second stakes victory.
Prat noted Consequent’s effortless lead and strong stretch run, while the winner’s share of $123,000 increased her earnings to $342,460. The Seneca Stakes is named after Seneca Park, the last Louisville park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted’s firm, situated in the Seneca Gardens neighborhood.
