Daniel Gazdag is determined to guide the New England Revolution to a second-place position in the Eastern Conference as they prepare for their crucial match against Orlando City SC on Decision Day.
In their most recent match, New England lost 2-1 to Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi scoring the decisive goal in the 83rd minute.
This result puts New England just two points behind Miami as they head into their final game of the season, while the Herons will compete against Charlotte FC at Nu Stadium this weekend.
This marks the first postseason appearance for the Revolution since 2023, following their loss to Miami which ended a four-game winning streak.
Gazdag, who scored his third league goal for New England after transferring from the Columbus Crew in September during the match against Miami, believes the team is well-prepared for the playoffs regardless of the outcome against Orlando.
“We feel confident,” Gazdag stated. “As a team, we’ve had a strong season and played high-quality matches throughout.”
“We faced Orlando a few weeks back, but this match will feel different since we have to play at their stadium. Naturally, we aim to secure three points and clinch the second spot in the standings, but Orlando is also vying for a playoff position, so it will be a tough match.”

Orlando has already secured a playoff berth despite a recent 4-0 defeat to Charlotte.
Henry Kessler opened the scoring for Charlotte in the sixth minute, with Allan Saint-Maximin adding another shortly after halftime at Bank of America Stadium.
A late surge saw Abdoulaye Doucoure and Rodolfo Aloko find the net around Saint-Maximin’s red card in the 89th minute, while Charlotte looks to secure a top-four finish in the East.
For Martin Perelman, coach of Orlando, several mistakes from his team were concerning, especially with playoffs approaching.
“I’m very disappointed with the result. We cannot afford to make mistakes like that in these critical matches,” Perelman admitted.
“At the end of the first half, I felt we disrupted them a bit, but we didn’t perform as well as we could have. We must learn from this and prepare for the upcoming matches. Our team has shown resilience this season, and we’ll be ready to bounce back.”
KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH
Orlando City SC – Martin Ojeda
Ojeda has scored six times in seven career regular-season matches against New England, which is tied for the most goals he’s netted against any single opponent (Miami) in his MLS journey.
The only Orlando player with a higher tally of regular-season goals against one team is Cyle Larin, who scored nine against New York City FC.

New England Revolution – Carles Gil
With 15 contributions (eight goals and seven assists) in the regular season against Orlando, Gil is tied for the most goal contributions against them, sharing the record with Sebastian Giovinco.
This is also his highest tally against any opponent, and he will look to add to it at the Inter.co Stadium.
MATCH PREDICTION: ORLANDO CITY SC TO WIN
New England previously defeated Orlando 4-2 in September, marking their first win in this matchup since June 2023.
The Revolution have never managed to win multiple matches against Orlando in the same year, with their nine victories coming from nine different years.
New England has secured back-to-back wins on the road for the third time this season, achieving six wins from their last eight away matches (with two losses) after only getting one win in their first eight games (two draws and five losses). Their last longer streak of away victories was four in a row from April to May 2025.
On the other hand, Orlando’s recent 4-0 loss to Charlotte marked the eighth time they conceded four or more goals this season, tying the MLS record for the most such matches in a single season, previously set by New England (2024), FC Cincinnati (2021), and the Colorado Rapids (1997).
OPTA WIN PROBABILITY
Orlando City SC – 43.4%
Draw – 26.8%
New England – 29.8%
Fan Take: This matchup is crucial for both teams as they navigate the competitive landscape heading into the playoffs. The performance on Decision Day not only impacts standings but also sets the tone for postseason aspirations, making it a key moment for fans and players alike.
