Desiles Doux netted a goal in the 78th minute, securing a 2-0 victory for Paris Saint-Germain over Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup on Saturday and getting closer to another trophy. After two PSG players received red cards during the match and Bayern pushed their attack, Ousmane Dembélé sealed the win with an additional goal in stoppage time, propelling the French side into the semifinals against either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund.

PSG broke the deadlock after a scoreless first half, with Joan Neves intercepting the ball from Harry Kane and quickly transitioning to find Doux, whose left-footed shot found the net as Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer dove in an attempt to block it. However, PSG faced challenges in the closing minutes, having to defend vigorously after red cards for Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez—Pacho for a dangerous tackle and Hernandez for a reckless elbow.

Bayern had two clear goals ruled out for offside, including a header by Kane, and were soon awarded a penalty, which was overturned after a video review showed no foul.

One significant incident was the injury to Jamal Musiala, which occurred as he chased a loose ball just before halftime. PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma rushed out to challenge for it, but Musiala fell awkwardly, leading to immediate medical attention and a stretcher being called for him. The moment cast a somber atmosphere over the stadium as both teams headed to the locker rooms, with Donnarumma visibly shaken and facing jeers from Bayern fans throughout the second half.

The match, held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, attracted a crowd of 66,937, making it a notable turnout and demonstrating the city’s readiness for hosting matches in next year’s World Cup.
