Sweden secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Poland on Tuesday, advancing to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Women’s Euro and helping Germany progress to the knockout stage from their group. The Swedish team showcased their dominance through effective attacks on the right flank, resulting in goals from three different players.

Stina Blackstenius opened the scoring in the 28th minute, followed by captain Kosovare Aslani in the 52nd, and Lina Harthi capped off the scoring in the 77th minute. Sweden’s performance meant that they topped the group on goal difference, ensuring that a draw in their upcoming match against Germany would suffice for both teams to secure their places in the next round. Germany achieved their second win by defeating Denmark 2-1 after being down at halftime.

Poland nearly found consolation in stoppage time when Milena Kokos struck the woodwork with a long-range effort, just missing the chance to narrow the gap. As the only Eastern European team in the tournament, Poland entered Euro 2025 with an impressive 11-match unbeaten run but is now facing two losses in their major tournament debut, including a previous 2-0 defeat to Germany. Star forward Ewapajol struggled to make an impact due to tight marking from the Swedish defense.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd proved a persistent threat, contributing significantly to her team’s offense, while Sweden welcomed back Barcelona player Friedrina Rolfö after she recovered from injury, who replaced Madelen Janogy, previously very active in the match.

This news is significant for soccer fans as it highlights Sweden’s growing prowess in women’s football and the increasing competitiveness of teams like Poland. The matches in the knockout stages promise to deliver high-stakes excitement and showcase emerging talent on a larger stage.
