Liverpool is reportedly ready to sell French central defender Ibrahima Konate this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract.
Journalist Anton Mida could sanction Konate’s departure by a somewhat surprising €50 million, according to journalist Anton Mina, who spoke to Cadena Cell, quoted and translated by sports witnesses.
Konate is a key player in Liverpool and they certainly wouldn’t want to let him go, especially as they had to deal with selling Trent Alexander Arnold to Real Madrid in this window.
Ibrahima Conate is leaving Liverpool for Real Madrid?
As we recently reported, Conate has rejected Liverpool’s offer of a new contract, and his situation has alerted Real Madrid.
Sources have informed us that Conate’s stance can be seen as Madrid accelerates its efforts to land Conate, and now it appears they are heading in that direction.
Marca also reports that he is eager to sign Conate on behalf of struggling duos Raul Asensio and Antonio Rudiger.
Meanwhile, Meana said: “The Anfield team will not rule out Konate to market this summer for around 50 million euros if they think he won’t update this summer. If that happens, the players will ask them to negotiate with Real Madrid.”
Should Liverpool win cash or get a hit with Conate?
Each fan has a different view, but the LFC could make a big decision.
Losing Conate would be a blow, even if they bring him a transfer fee. Therefore, some may argue that it is worth keeping him for another year and losing him for free at the end of the contract.
Meanwhile, Konate may be better off accepting that he doesn’t want to be in the club anymore and collecting cash to find a replacement as soon as possible.
