Jordan Henderson has signed a two-year deal with Brentford after leaving Ajax on a free transfer.

Brentford’s coach, Keith Andrews, emphasized the significance of Henderson’s experience in his decision to recruit him.

“When I discovered that Jordan was available, it became an easy choice,” Andrews stated. “We thoroughly evaluated his recent performances and found him to be an excellent fit, still highly motivated to make an impact in a game he thrives in.”

“It was vital to bring in experienced players who are committed to the club, like Christian Norgaard, Mark Frecken, and Ben Mee.”

“Overall, we have a relatively young squad with plenty of club experiences, including players like Vitaly Janelt, Mathias Jensen, Ethan Pinnock, and Josh Dasilva.”

“What Jordan adds is his status as one of the most influential leaders in the modern Premier League. He has consistently aimed for titles and Champions League success with a prestigious football club.”

“He also brings international experience with England, which enhances our level of professionalism, dedication, and experience—qualities we value at the club.”

“He raises the bar and will be a tremendous addition to the team.”

Henderson has earned 83 caps for England and has been part of the national team under Thomas Tuchel since he took over in January.

“I’m thrilled to be here and can’t wait to get started,” Henderson remarked. “I’ve always held a strong admiration for the club, particularly for its growth and achievements in recent years.”

“The organization and management of the club are crucial, and I was impressed. After speaking with Phil Giles, Leadykes, and Keith, I felt a strong urge to join. It was a clear choice once I had that conversation.”

“I’ve had a few discussions with Keith (Andrews), who was very transparent, and I’m eager to contribute right away.”

Henderson joined Ajax in January 2024 after a stint with Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

He previously played for Liverpool from 2011 to 2023, securing his first Premier League title in 2020.

Fan Take: This transfer is significant as it brings a seasoned leader into Brentford’s squad, which could strengthen their competitive edge in the Premier League. Henderson’s experience and work ethic may inspire younger players, highlighting the importance of leadership in soccer’s ever-evolving landscape.
