While Manchester United recently confirmed the signing of Matthews Kuña for £62.5 million, the mood at Old Trafford continues to be noticeably grim.

In May, Europa League rival Tottenham dealt a blow to the Red Devils, who faced a disappointing season punctuated by unwanted records. The pressure surrounding manager Ruben Amorim remains intense.

This summer is set to be significant for United, as European competition is not guaranteed next season, and there’s a growing sense of frustration among fans. Captain Bruno Fernandez turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia last month, but there are indications that Amorim is keen to see several high-profile players exit Old Trafford.

Additionally, United is looking to reduce its hefty wage bill, which Amorim has stated is a top priority ahead of the 2025/26 season. With Jadon Sancho likely leaving, the club is aggressively seeking a swift resolution to their offensive lineup.

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford, who returned to Old Trafford after a loan spell at Aston Villa, is not expected to extend his stay. Last year, he was involved in a public dispute with Amorim, indicating that he is not part of the club’s future plans.

Although Rashford showed flashes of brilliance during his time at Villa, scoring in the Premier League, the club opted not to make his transfer permanent. Now at a career crossroads, the 27-year-old is rumored to be hoping for a move to Barcelona this summer.

He will likely not participate in United’s pre-season preparations, and Amorim’s camp has indicated a willingness to accept offers around £40 million from interested clubs.

Aston Villa has confirmed that it will not activate Marcus Rashford’s £40 million purchase option.

Alejandro Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho may have remained at Old Trafford at the close of the January transfer window, but his anticipated move this summer appears inevitable. The young Argentine has reportedly had multiple disagreements with Amorim since his arrival in November 2024, resulting in damaged relationships at the club.

Much like Rashford, Garnacho is aware that he is excluded from the first team’s plans and will not partake in pre-season training. With his contract extending until the summer of 2028, United has placed a £70 million price tag on the eight-cap international to signal to potential bidders.

While Serie A champions Napoli may have an interest in Garnacho, suggestions indicate that he is inclined to remain in the Premier League. Previously linked to a move to Chelsea in January, Aston Villa is also keeping an eye on him.

Antony

After making a high-profile £81 million transfer to United in 2022, Antony’s time at Old Trafford has been turbulent. He enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Real Betis last season, where he significantly raised his profile.

The Brazilian winger, who helped Betis reach the Europa Conference League final, registered 14 direct contributions to goals across all competitions, becoming a fan favorite at the club. Though there were hopes for his resurgence at United, it appears that Antony’s career has yet to be revitalized.

Recently rewarded with a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazilian national team, Real Betis is very interested in making his loan permanent. Reports suggest that United is open to offers around £50 million, potentially attracting interest from various clubs across Europe.

In recent weeks, there have been inquiries for Antony from Betis, Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton, and Newcastle. Manchester United is seeking around £50 million for his transfer. @uol)) pic.twitter.com/dmkc6g1aps

In the world of soccer, the fate of marquee players like Rashford, Garnacho, and Antony is significant; their potential exits could reshape Manchester United’s future. As the club navigates a challenging off-season, fans are left wondering how these changes could impact their team’s competitive edge in the coming seasons.
