The 30-year-old said in a social media post that three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur is taking a break from competitive tennis.

Tunisian Yabour was the first Arab woman to reach the Grand Slam Finals and has struggled with her form in recent months and has not overcome the third round of this year’s majors.

Wimbledon’s two-time finalist campaign came to a disappointing end at the All England Club last month.

Old World No. 2 suffers from experiencing asthma and difficulty breathing at the Australian Open this year.

Yabul, often referred to as “the Minister of Happiness” due to her cheerful personality, said she was not truly happy in court.

“For the past two years I have pushed myself hard, fought through injuries and faced many other challenges. But deep down, I have not felt really happy with the court for a while,” she said in a statement.

“Tennis is a very beautiful sport. But now I feel that it’s time to take a step back and finally put myself first. I rediscover the joy of breathing, healing, and simply living.”

Jabert, who is married to former fencer Karim Camoun, is also open about his desire to start a family.

“Thank you to all the fans who understood. Your support and love means the world to me. I always carry it around,” she added.
