  • Morgan Rodgers has impressed at Premier League top clubs
  • Are Aston Villa open to selling Rodgers?

Arsenal’s interest in Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rodgers appears to be more than just noise.

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the Gunners have already made early contact with the player’s camp, making it one of the most interesting transfer stories of the summer.

Mr. Crook explained the situation clearly, saying:

“Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Rodgers is genuine. I have heard that there have been early talks between Arsenal and Rodgers’ camp. If a huge bid of between 80m and 100m is made, Villa may be forced to sell due to their limited financial resources.”

From Arsenal’s perspective, the appeal is easy to understand.

Morgan Rodgers has impressed at Premier League top clubs

Rodgers’ power, direct running, creativity and ability to play multiple roles has made him one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking midfielders.

He can function as a number 10, on the left or even as a second striker, making him exactly the type of flexible attacker Mikel Arteta likes.

His numbers support the hype. Rodgers contributed 26 goals across the 2025/26 season and Arsenal are one of the clubs monitoring him this summer as they look to strengthen their midfield and attacking options.

He has also been named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming World Cup, showing how rapidly his reputation is growing.

Are Aston Villa open to selling Rodgers?

The problem, of course, is Aston Villa’s stance. According to reports, Villa do not want to sell one of their best players but will discuss money.

If Arsenal do indeed make an offer in the range of £80m to £100m, Villa may have to make a difficult decision, especially with financial pressures still an issue.

This would be a great signing for Arsenal, but only if they are absolutely sure he can become a regular starter.

Spending that kind of money on team options is risky.

Rodgers has the physicality, personality and Premier League experience to improve Arsenal immediately. However, Villa have strong cards and Arsenal must avoid interest turning into despair.
