The MLB season is set to continue on Friday following a thrilling All-Star game held in Atlanta. Before the season resumes, fans and experts alike are debating who deserves the midseason MVP honors in each league, along with potential Cy Young Award winners and standout rookies.

Fox Sports reached out for insights on the top candidates for baseball’s most prestigious awards, gathering opinions from key voters in each category. So, here comes the exciting reveal!

In the American League, Jacob Wilson has had a historic rookie season, becoming the first rookie shortstop elected by fans to start in the All-Star Game and the youngest player since Vida Blue in 1971.

In the National League, Atlanta Braves rookie catcher is making waves, with a .287 batting average and a .471 slugging percentage, leading all NL rookies with at least 75 at-bats. Meanwhile, AJ Smith Showber, a promising pitcher for the Braves, had his season cut short by UCL surgery.

Tarik Skubal is firmly in the conversation for the Cy Young Award in the AL, boasting the lowest WHIP in the majors at 0.83 and sharing the league’s lowest ERA at 2.23 with Red Sox’s Garrett Crochet. The Tigers’ ace, who was also the AL starting pitcher for the All-Star Game, holds a strong 10-3 record as the break begins.

On the NL side, Zach Wheeler of the Phillies continues to impress with top-tier stats across major pitching categories and recently achieved 1,000 career strikeouts, yet he’s still chasing his first Cy Young title.

For the MVP race, the Cubs’ outfielder PCA has blossomed into a star with 25 home runs, 27 stolen bases, and 71 RBIs. However, fans shouldn’t overlook Shohei Ohtani, who leads in home runs (32), runs (91), OPS (.987), and slugging percentage (.605), or the dominant ‘ superstars putting up incredible seasons.

At the All-Star break, few candidates make a stronger case than Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who, despite dropping from a .423 average early in the season, remains impressive at .355 with 35 homers and 81 RBIs. Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has also had an outstanding season, hitting 38 home runs and driving in 82 runs.

Fan Take: This midseason analysis highlights the rise of fresh talent alongside seasoned veterans making strong playoff pushes, showcasing the evolving landscape of MLB. Baseball fans should be excited as these players set the stage for an exhilarating second half, shaping the future of the sport and thrilling audiences nationwide.
