Lennox Lewis Urges Oleksandr Usyk to Retire if He Triumphs Over Dubois

Lennox Lewis has expressed that Oleksandr Usyk should consider retirement if he manages to defeat Daniel Dubois on Saturday. Usyk, who last year became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lewis in 1999 by defeating Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has an impressive record. His achievements include Olympic gold medals and being an undisputed cruiserweight champion before moving up to heavyweight, where he has bested fighters like Fury and Anthony Joshua twice, with Dubois also on his list of conquered opponents.

If Usyk wins this Saturday, he will secure his status as a two-time undisputed men’s champion in the era of four belts. When asked about Usyk’s potential victory, Lewis was clear that Usyk has nothing left to prove and might even consider retiring before the bout. However, if Usyk chooses to continue, it could be challenging since defending the title requires a cautious and tactical approach.

Lewis praised Usyk as one of the greatest fighters ever, placing him in the same league as legends like Muhammad Ali and himself. Despite Usyk’s impressive skills, Lewis believes Dubois should leverage his natural heavyweight size advantage, especially in the early rounds, to pressure Usyk and cut off his movement. According to Lewis, Dubois needs to keep Usyk on the ropes, apply constant pressure, and dominate the fight tempo.

Fan Take: This upcoming bout is a pivotal moment for heavyweight boxing, showcasing a possible passing of the torch or the crowning of an all-time great. Fighting fans should watch closely, as the outcome could redefine the heavyweight division’s future landscape.
