Ex-Hershey Player Pierric Duve Signs as Forward with Russian Team

Former Hershey Bears forward Pierric Duve has inked a one-year deal with Russia’s Tractor Chelyabinsk, as announced earlier this week. Duve spent a single season with the Bears during the 2024-25 campaign, marking his second year within the Washington Capitals organization. He tallied 19 goals and 21 assists, accumulating 40 points over 58 regular-season games. In the playoffs, Duve contributed three points across eight games.

Throughout his brief professional tenure with the Capitals system, Duve made his NHL debut in the 2023-24 season but did not record any points in three games. Prior to turning pro, he played in the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts, Chicoutimi Sagueneens, and Shawinigan Cataractes.

Heading to the KHL gives Duve a fresh path to potentially return to the NHL. Having proven himself effective in the AHL, he possesses the talent to excel in the KHL and catch the eye of NHL scouts.

Fan Take: This move is exciting for hockey fans because it highlights how players can develop their skills internationally and still keep the door open for NHL opportunities. Duve’s success in the KHL could inspire more players to pursue alternative routes to elite performance and expand the global reach of hockey talent.
