Josh Berry Departs Sonoma Scene Following Collision, Shares a Moment Reading to Carson Joseval

During the second half of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway, Josh Berry and Carson Hocevar collided in one of the turns, causing Hocevar to spin. Berry finished in 13th place, while Hocevar dropped to 32nd. There was some speculation that the contact was deliberate, but Berry denied any intentional wrongdoing. Speaking in Dover on Saturday, Berry explained that the track was congested, with Noah Gragson cutting him off and causing a bottleneck. This led to the incident when Hocevar came up from below, resulting in Hocevar’s truck being knocked out of the race. Berry expressed regret over the incident, noting that he reached out to Hocevar on Monday but received no response, although he did talk to Hocevar’s crew chief.

Hocevar, who has been involved in several confrontations this season, was on the receiving end this time. He has stated that he does not plan on retaliating against Berry, not out of anger but because he feels that the apology call made on Monday was ineffective in resolving the matter.

Fan Take: This clash highlights the intense and often unpredictable nature of NASCAR racing, where close competition can lead to on-track drama and heated rivalries. For fans, such incidents add an extra layer of excitement and storytelling, showing that driver interactions and sportsmanship off the track are just as compelling as the racing itself.
