Lido, a two-year-old course and site for the 124th Wisconsin amateur at Sand Valley Resort in Nekusa, showed his teeth in the second round of the tournament on July 22nd as leaderboards shuffled and scores spiked.

Waunakee’s KC Nickel took a two-round lead after dropping a 2-under 70 card to 4-under in the tournament. He’s one shot ahead of Lyonen Faris (Fondu Lac) and Drake Wilcox (Sheboygan).

Six other players have won face value in the tournament. This includes two-time State AM champion Ryan Quinn at 2 under. Playing in the second round, Quinn had a shot to win the third title, winning the first in 2001 and 2002.

First round leader Jacques Lebo fell to 32 tie after his opening round 6 under par 66 in 10 over 82nd.

Rubo’s struggle marked a tougher day of play.

Eighteen players finished with pars, including six players who finished in the ’60s in the first round on July 21st. Only 11 players were able to beat a par in the second round, with the lowest round of the day belonging to Eau Claire’s Parker Oetzel, a 3-under par 69.

The tournament is now moving to the third round, with the field being reduced to a score of 70 and a tie (9 under).

Notable players who missed the cut include former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS color analyst Tony Romo. Past tournament champions Nick Nelson, Mike McDonald, Travis Meyer, Robert Gregorski and Pat Boyle also missed out on cuts.
