  • He succeeded Liverpool’s Nunes and Diaz.

        • New Fabinho: Liverpool prepares bids for “one of the best DMS on the planet”

Liverpool was caught up in a preseason clash with the optimistic Milan.

They definitely had the best transfer windows for any team this summer. That means they signed Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

Arne Slot’s team appears to be trying to pack a stronger punch than they did during their Premier League championship campaign.

Certainly, the Reds are the favorites to land Alexander Isaac after the Swedes have made a hierarchy in Newcastle.

But that aggressiveness wasn’t enough to carry them to beat Milan, who beat the slot side 4-2.

After that, mostly things to do behind the options appear sparsely visible in the heart of Liverpool. Still, it appears they intend to take steps to add more to the forward line.

He succeeded Liverpool’s Nunes and Diaz.

The move that Liverpool will complete between now and the end of summer could depend on what happens to Darwin Nunes and Louis Diaz.

The former was largely expected to take his leave, but he finally feels a little uncertain now. As for Diaz, his future is Munich, with Bayern agreeing to sign a Colombian winger for a fee of around £65 million.

If Nunes left with Diaz, the Reds could turn their attention to Isaac’s record bid.

But it would make more sense to sign Diaz’s outing alternative, as Ekitike has already passed through the door.

That’s where Liverpool’s wide options appear in the equation. Another Toonstar in the form of Anthony Gordon is linked, but I feel that is unlikely.

More likely is to enter into a deal with Real Madrid winger Rodrigo. According to a Spanish report.

A report that noted a few weeks ago that Liverpool had begun consultations to sign the Brazilians, is now said to be leading the race to sign him.

Arsenal is currently out of the Madrid star race and is said to be making a Reds favorite. That being said, they have to sell to find the moves of players that are valued at around £87 million.

That’s certainly a lot of money, but it’s easy to see why players have turned their eyes towards the 24-year-old compared to Wirtz.

How does Rodrigo compare to Florian Wiltz?

It was a coup that took Whartz to Anfield this summer, as he was described as “the world’s best midfielder” by former Leverkusen striker Patrick Helms.

Many believe that the classic number 10 has disappeared, but at Wirtz, they feel that Liverpool has signed the heir to Kevin de Bruin’s throne.

He is a creative machine that has supported 15 goals last season, but is competent in front of goals, earning 16 times in all competitions.

Not only can you get through the middle, but Wirtz has found a large area home, like Rodrigo.

The Brazilian isn’t the number 10, but like Wirtz, he is played over a wide range of false nines. His statistical data are also very similar.

In fact, according to FBREF, the Germans are the seventh offensive midfielder and winger to Rodrigo in the top five leagues of Europe last year. This is why.

Wirtz’s output is very good, but Rodrygo scored 14 and helped 11 on all completions, but the data was comparable in other areas.

Looking at the numbers, it’s actually only a small amount, but it was a real winger who improved Wirtz with a key pass around 90 minutes.

In the dribbling division, the ability to manipulate the ball in tight areas and advance beyond defense is creepy.

They are surprised they own it at their feet. This is supported by the fact that both average over 5 progressive carrys per 90 persons.

Carries are considered progressive if the ball moves from the starting point towards the opponent’s goal at least 10 yards or more, or is carried into the penalty area.

Teammates are clearly aware that they are emphasizing their ability to give the ball between lines, which can affect the procedure in the last third, as they receive the same number of progressive passes.

Rodrigo played 17 matches without goals at some stage in 2024/25, but his abilities are clear and if you are a player earning comparisons with Wirtz, it is clear that you are a very talented footballer. After all, he is, in Luka Modric’s words, “a world-class superstar.”

For Liverpool, this would be a big move if Diaz departs.
