American Brianna Do and Canadian Anna Fan were among the 17 players who won spots in Monday’s 18 hole qualifying at AIG Women’s Open this week.

AIG Women’s Open will begin on Thursday with the Royal Porte Call in Wales.

Han, the youngest player on the 16-year-old Ladies’ European Tour, posted a low round on Monday with a 4-under par 67 at Pyle and Kenfig Golf Club. She was followed by Ireland’s Anna Foster and Thailand’s Alpichaya Yubor at 3 under.

“I’m delighted with my score,” said a fan, who is ranked 521 in the Rolex women’s rankings. “I’m not playing Link Golf so it took some practice rounds to get used to it, but I think I handled it pretty well. I played at the US Open this year, so this will be my second major championship. It really helps to learn a lot from that week and bring more patience this week.”

35, 1 under, tied 8th. The 2011 Women’s Amateur Public Link Champion will play at her first Women’s Open since 2016. She was ranked 351st and tied at T59 at the Evian Championship three weeks ago at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June.

“A few years ago I had the first replacement for Evian, so I didn’t get in, so I came to Scotland and played quite a bit of golf,” Do said. “I played the old courses, Prestwick, Ellie, so I played quite a bit for fun, which was amazing.

Among the five Americans who were short on qualifying were Daniel Kang, the 2017 major champion and four-time US Solheim Cup player, who shot a 73. Kang said he wasn’t disappointed despite not qualifying for her 13th Women’s Open.

“Not even a bit,” she said. “We met some incredible people here. We were able to play with a lot of members at Porte Cole and get to know everyone at Pyle and Kenfig. That’s great.”

Both Australia’s Hira Naveed (69) and New Zealand’s Kobori Momoko Kobori (70) and Pepperdine’s teammates in 2017-19 were eligible. All 17 qualifying rounds of this week at 144 golfer fields ended with pars.
