  • Why Liverpool wants Jeremy Jacket

It’s all happening in Liverpool.

All the faithful on the Anfield side are breathlessly awaiting the outcome of Alexander Isaac Saga, but FSG is well aware that new centrebacks must be signed before the transfer window is closed.

Bournemouth’s Dean Huyssen was pursued in May, but the Spanish genius signed Real Madrid with a £50 million package. Nonetheless, alternatives are still needed, especially as Liverpool sold Jarrell Kuanza to Bayer Leverkusen for £35 million last month.

Liverpool line up new centre-backs

Marc Guehi is Liverpool’s first choice option to bolster the Arne Slot’s backline, and Crystal Palace stars also want the Reds.

But Newcastle United is also interested, with Liverpool remaining in players’ trade for just one year, meeting the Eagles’ £50 million demand.

According to Transher Insider Graeme Bailey, Liverpool took part in the race for Renneis centre-back Jeremy Jacket, which has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old Jacket has just appeared on the senior stage, but has already established himself as one of the most exciting talents in French football.

However, Rennes knew this and refused Arsenal’s approach. So sports director Richard Hughes has designed the deal ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and cuts out work to complete the slot backline.

Why Liverpool wants Jeremy Jacket

Liverpool will have to sign a central defender this month. There is tentative optimism between Liverpool circles, but Slot sees Ibrahima Conate signing a new deal at Anfield, suggesting Joe Gomez’s recent injury to Achilles, and in fact, Quanza’s departure, both of which suggest that more depth is paramount.

Virgil Van Dijk and Konate continue their unparalleled partnership to protect their sticks, while Jacquet adds the extra depth needed to compete in multiple aspects with a rapidly rising skill set that could potentially reach elite status.

Analyst Ben Matinson has been described as the “Rolls-Royce” defender with the potential to become one of the world’s centre-backs, and with that in mind, Jaset may even prove to be Liverpool’s own version of Huijsen.

Despite playing only 12 times for Rennes after leaving Clermont Foot in the second tier of French football, Jaquet’s vast qualities are alongside Huizen’s vast qualities, with a burgeoning passing game and aggressively defended with duels and tackles.

The jacket’s aggressive and technically keen playing style has even seen him compare to Arsenal’s William Saliba, so it’s no surprise that the gunners want to make a deal. However, this also confirms that Liverpool needs to win the race.

If that wasn’t enough, Arsenal had a vested interest in Huyssen before the Los Blancos stole first and completed the magnificent deal.

However, this time, if Liverpool were to advance now, they were able to win the race.
